I’m Beastly. Some people call me Alexander Cheves.
I am a writer, editor, copywriter, freelance illustrator, and sex educator in New York City. My work has appeared in Out, VICE, Them, Plus, The Body, Hornet Stories, and many other publications. In 2016, I launched the sex column “Sexy Beast” in The Advocate, the longest-running LGBTQ+ magazine in the United States.
In August 2020, I signed a two-book deal with Unbound Edition Press. My first, a collection of essays, is scheduled for release in the fall of 2021.
I’m 5’9″, brown and brown, half-Deaf, and my pronouns are he/him/his. In most cases, I call my sexuality “fluid,” but if you want to get specific, I’m pansexual, which means I’m sexually attracted to all genders. My community is queer; most of my friends and lovers are LGBTQ+. I am sex-positive, irreligious, and have many kinks and fetishes. I love cupcakes, gyms, philosophy, dogs, tattoos, fountain pens, reading, travel, and vintage gay porn magazines.
My nickname — “Beastly” — has nothing to do with bestiality. One should always maintain some mystery, so I won’t explain where the name comes from. If you really want to know, track me down and make me tell you in person. I have never explained the nickname in writing and never will.
